During the COVID-19 pandemic, FDNY is extending an alternative option for schools to remotely administer the graduate exam, providing means for students to satisfy the course requirements. To do so, they’ve updated the exam process as follows:

Students are required to complete 100% of the course, actively participate in all learning activities, and pass an open-ended (narrative) final exam. Students will be monitored throughout the exam via a video conferencing platform and are prohibited from discussing the exam content with anyone during or after the exam. Prior to receipt of the graduation exam, students are required to sign and submit a signed Honor Pledge to the training provider.

Students are allotted a maximum of 2.5 hours for the exam and must submit their answers before the time expires. It is recommended that your work often as no additional time will be extended.

Study materials and/or notes can be used during the exam however, students must not copy the study material content. All answers must be expressed in your own words or, per the FDNY, your exam will be graded as a failure.

A minimum passing score of 70% on the exam is required to receive the course completion certificate and verification letter. Students may contact TSCTA 5 business days after exam completion to inquire about their exam results.

Students who do not successfully pass the exam will have the option of retaking the training course at 50% of the original course fee.  It is your responsibility to contact TSCTA to schedule and pay for the retake class within six (6) months following the original class date. After six (6) months, students will be required to pay the full course fee.
