Who Can Apply for an SBS Grant?
Small construction firms located in NYC with 1-15 employees and certified M/WBEs in the construction industry with 1-15 employees may apply.
What’s Covered Under the SBS Training Grant?
You pick the training provider from an approved list, and the NYC Department of Small Business Services will cover a percentage of the cost if your business is eligible. The New York City Small Business Service (SBS) Office announced a grant program for small construction firms and certified M/WBEs with 1-15 employees to help offset the costs associated with Site Safety Training.
What are the Risks of Not Completed the Required SST Training?
Permit holders must certify workers have the required training. A DOB inspector may levy fines up to $15,000 per untrained worker: $5,000 for the owner, $5,000 for the permit holder, $5,000 for the employer. The Law also requires permit holders maintain a log of trained workers or face fines up to $2,500.
