This instructor-led, virtual 4-hour course is intended to educate workers on how to avoid accidents and injuries while working on roofs, leading edges, ladders, or scaffolds by defining the regulations and safety rules associated with fall hazards on construction sites.

During the training, students will be provided with an overview of OSHA and DOB policies, procedures, and ASME rigging standards with a special emphasis on recognition and prevention of hazardous conditions. Students will participate in hands-on exercises in which they will be responsible for presenting, installing and using various rigging applications.

Hands-on assessment will be made by instructor to determine if each student is capable of applying rope knots, inspect rigging hardware and apply learned rigging lifting techniques. Immediately prior to the end of the course, students will independently participate in a multiple-choice final exam.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the construction industry has the highest rates of workplace drug use. Substance abuse is a factor in 35 percent of workplace injuries and fatalities, 35 percent of all absences, 38 percent to 50 percent of all workers’ compensation claims and, 40 percent of thefts. Substance abuse is increasing those risks, which affect overall job safety and work efficiency. Substance abuse includes, but is not limited to the use of marijuana, heroin, ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, opiates, amphetamine and high amounts of alcohol. The program’s goal is to address substance and alcohol abuse and particularly focuses on educating workers on safety and productivity hazards created by the abuse of alcohol and other drugs in the workplace.

This actively proctored, instructor-led virtual 10 Hour OSHA Outreach training is designed to promote workplace safety and health and to make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights.

Gallagher Bassett’s Hybrid 40-Hour Hazwoper training program covers the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard that applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees.

Besides the instructor-led lecture and instructional videos, the program includes an overview of pertinent provisions of EPA standards or laws, decontamination equipment and procedures, and a review of air and contamination monitoring equipment. This course will include a hands-on portion where students will learn about and apply rope knots, terminate wire rope, build a block and tackle system, effectively install fall protection systems, and inspect/maintain different types of scaffold hoist motors.

A hands-on assessment will be made by the instructor to determine if each student is capable of performing the above-mentioned scaffolding and rigging applications. Each student is required to independently complete a multiple-choice final exam.

This hybrid course consists of 16 total hours of both a virtual, instructor-led lecture and hands-on/practical component and provides students with an overview of OSHA and DOB policies, procedures, and ASME rigging standards with a special emphasis on supervision and coordination of rigging crews and rigging equipment setup. Some topics will include instructions on how to visually inspect rigging equipment, crane setup, load weight, and center of gravity calculations as well as methods of applying proper rigging hitches. Students will participate in hands-on exercises in which they will be responsible for presenting, installing, and using various rigging applications.

Hands-on assessment will be made by the instructor to determine if each student is capable of applying rope knots, inspecting rigging hardware and applying learned rigging lifting techniques and immediately prior to the end of the course students will independently complete a multiple-choice final exam.

This hybrid course consists of both a virtual, instructor-led lecture and hands-on/practical component and provides students with an overview of OSHA and DOB policies, procedures, and suspended scaffold standards with a special emphasis on recognition and prevention of hazardous conditions. The virtual 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher/Chapter 33 Training course is a refresher to the 40-Hour Site Safety Manager Course, which is a comprehensive presentation of Chapter 33 and the Rules of the City of New York that pertains to public protection. During the training, students will review the hazards of working in the New York City construction environment and the specific methods and work practices that are necessary on an urban construction site.

This course introduces students to the New York City Fire Code and Fire Department Rules including their organization and terminology, along with Fire Code construction site provisions and all construction site fire safety requirements. Topics covered will include fire safety plans, inspections and record keeping, training on fire extinguishers, testing fire protection equipment, hot work requirements and industry best practices based on other regulatory requirements like the Building Code and OSHA.

As set forth in the Mayor’s Emergency Executive Order 153, the FDNY authorizes the limited use of propane for comfort heating of restaurant patrons during the COVID-19 state of emergency. T-93 Certificate of Fitness holder is responsible for the onsite supervision of connecting and disconnecting the propane containers from the heaters.

To do this, construction industry employers should develop a comprehensive COVID-19 exposure control plan, which includes control measures, symptom checking, social distancing, hygiene and decontamination procedures, and training. This training program will focus on COVID-19 risk assessment, health and wellness measures and what policies and procedures should be implemented by contractors to ensure safety of construction employees.

As states begin to re-start the economy, it’s vital for employers to incorporate safety and wellness measures to protect construction workers from spreading the virus. To ensure appropriate steps are taken, Construction Industry employers are responsible to develop a comprehensive COVID-19 exposure control plan, which includes control measures such as social distancing; symptom checking; hygiene; decontamination procedures, and training.
