During the training, students will be provided with an overview of OSHA and DOB policies, procedures, and ASME rigging standards with a special emphasis on recognition and prevention of hazardous conditions. Additional topics will include instructions on how to visually inspect rigging equipment, basic crane components, crane setup and methods of applying proper rigging hitches. Students will participate in hands-on exercises in which they will be responsible for presenting, installing and using various rigging applications.

Hands-on assessment will be made by instructor to determine if each student is capable of applying rope knots, inspect rigging hardware and apply learned rigging lifting techniques. Immediately prior to the end of the course, students will independently participate in a multiple-choice final exam.

Class 2 Code and Zoning Representatives are registered with the Department to appear before and attend appointments with plan examiners or department technical staff seeking construction document approvals. Class 2 Code and Zoning Representatives are also registered to present, submit, or furnish applications or construction documents, and remove documents from the Department. To ensure that individuals are knowledgeable about code provisions and conditions, the DOB requires applicants for Filing Representative Registration Identification card to have successfully completed 36-Hour DOB-prepared training covering NYC Building Code information that is relevant to the job of a Filing Representative.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the construction industry has the highest rates of workplace drug use. Substance abuse is a factor in 35 percent of workplace injuries and fatalities, 35 percent of all absences, 38 percent to 50 percent of all workers’ compensation claims and, 40 percent of thefts. Substance abuse is increasing those risks, which affect overall job safety and work efficiency. Substance abuse includes, but is not limited to the use of marijuana, heroin, ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, opiates, amphetamine and high amounts of alcohol. The program’s goal is to address substance and alcohol abuse and particularly focuses on educating workers on safety and productivity hazards created by the abuse of alcohol and other drugs in the workplace.

This training may be delivered as a stand-alone seminar or offered through an integrated approach with other industry appropriate subject matter.

Attendees discuss and review how to prevent accidents and injuries and OSHA General Industry Standards specific to your industry. This course is based on the requirements contained within the OSHA Code of Federal Regulations for General Industry (29 CFR 1910).

This actively proctored, instructor-led virtual program includes OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. The training will place emphasis on those areas that are most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. This program is more applicable for the construction supervisor, with a more intensified focus on various occupational safety and health standards. Course participants can expect to be able to locate and identify OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1926; identify common causes of accidents and fatalities in hazardous areas of construction; recommend abatement techniques for such hazards; and recognize various construction processes, materials, and equipment.

This actively proctored, instructor-led virtual 10 Hour OSHA Outreach training is designed to promote workplace safety and health and to make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights.

This Outreach program emphasizes workplace safety and health, the role of the construction worker in hazard recognition and avoidance, workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint.

Gallagher Bassett’s Hybrid 40-Hour Hazwoper training program covers the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard that applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees.

Besides the instructor-led lecture and instructional videos, the program includes an overview of pertinent provisions of EPA standards or laws, decontamination equipment and procedures, and a review of air and contamination monitoring equipment. The purpose of the course is to initiate prospective candidates with safe job practices in New York City and to prepare those prospective candidates to take the Site Safety Manager’s test.

During the course, students will be introduced to the hazards of working the New York City construction environment and the specific methods and work practices that are necessary on an urban construction site.

The virtual 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher/Chapter 33 Training course is a refresher to the 40-Hour Site Safety Manager Course, which is a comprehensive presentation of Chapter 33 and the Rules of the City of New York that pertains to public protection. During the training, students will review the hazards of working in the New York City construction environment and the specific methods and work practices that are necessary on an urban construction site.

This course introduces students to the New York City Fire Code and Fire Department Rules including their organization and terminology, along with Fire Code construction site provisions and all construction site fire safety requirements. Topics covered will include fire safety plans, inspections and record keeping, training on fire extinguishers, testing fire protection equipment, hot work requirements and industry best practices based on other regulatory requirements like the Building Code and OSHA.

As set forth in the Mayor’s Emergency Executive Order 153, the FDNY authorizes the limited use of propane for comfort heating of restaurant patrons during the COVID-19 state of emergency. T-93 Certificate of Fitness holder is responsible for the onsite supervision of connecting and disconnecting the propane containers from the heaters.

To do this, construction industry employers should develop a comprehensive COVID-19 exposure control plan, which includes control measures, symptom checking, social distancing, hygiene and decontamination procedures, and training. This training program will focus on COVID-19 risk assessment, health and wellness measures and what policies and procedures should be implemented by contractors to ensure safety of construction employees.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the construction industry around the country in many ways. As states begin to re-start the economy, it’s vital for employers to incorporate safety and wellness measures to protect construction workers from spreading the virus. To ensure appropriate steps are taken, Construction Industry employers are responsible to develop a comprehensive COVID-19 exposure control plan, which includes control measures such as social distancing; symptom checking; hygiene; decontamination procedures, and training. An exposure control plan must be followed to prevent any onsite worker from contracting COVID-19, as many people with COVID-19 are asymptomatic, and can potentially spread disease.
