What To Do When Your SST Card Becomes Invalid Overnight

The NYCDOB has issued a press release and associated message on Training Connect immediately revoking all SST cards issued by Valor AND invalidating certifications issued by Valor used to meet SST Card requirements. YES, this may apply to you even if your SST card was issued by a different provider.

FAQ:

Q. What is the quickest way for me to get back to work?

A. Get a Temporary Worker SST Card

To obtain a Temporary Worker SST Card, you will need to have a valid 10 or 30 HR OSHA training card and must not have previously been issued a Temporary Worker SST Card. If you need to take the OSHA training, click here for upcoming 10HR OSHA options and here for 30HR OSHA.

If you meet the above requirements, you can apply for your temporary SST card and will have 6 months to take the additional training needed to obtain your full worker or supervisor SST card.

*Please note: If you are a supervisor, you will only be able to work as a worker and not as a supervisor with a Temporary SST card.

Q. I have an SST card issued by another course provider but took some of my required courses with Valor.

A. Check the status of your SST card immediately.

The DOB has announced certificates issued by Valor have been invalidated. SST cards issued by providers other than Valor are also invalid if certificates issued by Valor were used to issue those SST cards.

Q. How can I check the status of my SST Card

A. Use the SST Card Validator App available on the Apple Store or Google Play

Q. What training is needed for a new SST Card?

This depends on what kind of SST Card you need and which valid certifications you currently hold.
