This course provides an overall understanding of excavation and its hazards, and details the general and specific requirements when excavating and trenching in accordance with OSHA construction regulations.
This course includes topics such as
- Defining types of cave-in protection
- Recognizing the general safety requirements to work at excavations
- Evaluating workers in danger
- Distinguishing soil types
- Recognizing the role of an OSHA competent person
There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course. Students must be able to verbally communicate with instructor in primary language of the training.
Training Requirement for Excavation Safety Training
This course is voluntary and does not meet any specific regulatory or industry requirement.
The Excavation Safety Training is intended for workers who are involved in hazardous construction activities when working with or around excavation.
Methods of Instruction
This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lecture, real life case studies, class discussion and hands on demonstration.
Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands-on demonstrations to receive an Excavation Training course completion certificate from TSCTA.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Should students miss any portions of the course, it is the student’s responsibility to contact TSCTA to arrange to attend another scheduled event.
