Course Description

This training meets OSHA Guidelines for First Aid Programs and combines lecture, interactive video demonstration and hands-on training to teach participants lifesaving skills. In this course, attendees will learn how to recognize and provide basic treatment for medical conditions like cardiac arrest, stroke, seizures, allergic reactions, asthma, and shock. They will also learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies. This course teaches students how to recognize and treat major bleeding, neck injuries, head injuries, broken bones, cuts and bruises.

They will also learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies. This course teaches students how to recognize and treat major bleeding, neck injuries, head injuries, broken bones, cuts and bruises.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course. Students must be able to verbally communicate with the instructor in the primary language of the training.

Training Requirements for CPR & First Aid Certification
As per the OSHA Standard for first aid training in General Industry, 29 CFR 1910.151(b), in the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available.

As per the OSHA Standard for first aid training in the Construction Industry, 29 CFR 1926.50(c), in the absence of an infirmary clinic, hospital, or physician, that is reasonably accessible in terms of time and distance to the worksite, which is available for the treatment of injured employees, a person who has a valid certificate in first-aid training from the U.S. Bureau of Mines, the American Red Cross, or equivalent training that can be verified by documentary evidence, shall be available at the worksite to render first aid.

Methods of Instruction
This course consists of several different components which include PowerPoint presentations, lecture, real-life case studies, class discussions, and hands-on demonstrations.

Audience
This course is designed for workplace responders, school staff, professional responders, and healthcare providers, as well as the general public.

Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands-on demonstrations to receive two course completion cards from Coyne. One completion card is for CPR/AED and another for First Aid Basic life support.

Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Should students miss any portions of the course, it is the student’s responsibility to contact Gallagher Bassett to arrange to attend another scheduled event.
