16-Hour Limited Gas Work Qualification
This 16-hour course satisfies the training requirement for workers applying for the Limited Qualification for Gas Work within New York City and covers an overview of all applicable codes, rules policy statements, regulatory notices, bulletins & memos found within the NYC Construction Codes. The training will focus on Gas Work-related best business practices, safety standards, hazard recognition and mitigation among other topics.
Training Requirements for 16-Hour Limited Gas Work Qualification Training
Pursuant to Local Law 150 of 2016, beginning on January 1, 2020, the Department will require anyone performing gas work to possess either a Department-issued Master Plumber License or a Qualification for Gas Work.
Gas work, as defined by the NYC Fuel Gas Code §101.2, must be performed under the direct and continuing supervision of a Licensed Master Plumber (LMP). However, per the NYC Administrative Code Title 28 – Chapter 3, Article 318, the term gas work does not include required periodic inspections.
To perform limited gas work under the direct and continuing supervision of a LMP, as covered in section 101.2 of the New York City Fuel Gas Code, the applicant must have at least six months of full-time experience performing plumbing work under the direct and continuing supervision of a LMP.

Individuals applying for the Limited Qualification and having at minimum six months full-time experience performing plumbing work under the direct and continuing supervision of a LMP.
Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands-on exercises and a review quiz.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Should students miss any portion of the training, it is the student’s responsibility to contact TSCTA to arrange to attend another scheduled event.
