New York City Department of Buildings Filing Representative Training Courses

The New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) requires filing representatives conducting business with the DOB to register and obtain a DOB-issued Identification Card. 16-Hour Class 1 Filing Representative Training Course Overview

Class 1 Filing Representative presents, submits, furnishes, files, and/or seeks approval of DOB applications or construction documents, for revision and resubmission. To ensure that Filing Representatives are knowledgeable about code provisions and conditions, DOB requires applicants for Filing Representative Registration Identification card to have successfully completed a 16-Hour DOB-prepared training covering NYC Building Code information that is relevant to the job of a Filing Representative.

32-Hour Class 2 Filing Representative Training Course Overview

Class 2 Code and Zoning Representatives are registered with the Department to appear before and attend appointments with plan examiners or department technical staff seeking construction document approvals. Class 2 Code and Zoning Representatives are also registered to present, submit, or furnish applications or construction documents, and remove documents from the Department. To ensure that individuals are knowledgeable about code provisions and conditions, the DOB requires applicants for Filing Representative Registration Identification card to have successfully completed 36-Hour DOB-prepared training covering NYC Building Code information that is relevant to the job of a Filing Representative.
