Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course. Students must be able to verbally communicate with instructor in primary language of the training.
Training Requirements for Allied Trades Initial Training
To be eligible to apply to the New York State Department of Labor for an asbestos Allied Trades certificate, applicants must complete an accredited New York State Health Department asbestos certification training program. To maintain the certification, an annual 4-hour refresher course is required.
Audience
The training is applicable for any individual(s) performing limited or special tasks in preparation of or ancillary to an asbestos abatement project or one engaged in a similar occupation.
Course Description
This course includes topics such as safety hazards, work practices, decontamination system, and regulatory overview specific to asbestos abatement activities they intend to conduct.
Methods of Instruction
This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lecture, real life case studies, class discussion and hands on demonstration.
Completion Requirements
Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands on demonstration and pass the final exam to receive an Allied Trades Initial Training completion certificate from TSCTA.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Should students miss any portions of the course, it is the student’s responsibility to contact TSCTA to arrange to attend another scheduled event.
